Getting Ready to Buy

During our initial interview, you’ll share your expectations and learn about the process of buying a home. You’ll be informed about Agency (Buyer vs. Seller Agents). You will obtain valuable market knowledge about areas, prices, financing, your qualifications and normal procedures. Considering your wants, abilities, and needs, you decide on price, size, style and area.
A strategy for a successful purchase is to apply for pre-approval of your mortgage prior to finding a home. Negotiating a contract with a loan commitment can be advantageous to you. It will also assure that we are looking in the right price range, thus avoiding disappointment in falling in love with a home you cannot afford. If you have not been pre-approved, I will give you names of experienced loan officers that will provide this service in writing before our next meeting.

Now that your pre-approval is in place, we will begin the process of visiting homes in your price range. As you walk through the homes, feel free to open cabinets and closets. If the home feels right, it is very important that we spend as much time as we need looking at the home. Most often the sellers will be absent, but should they be present, they will understand your need to examine the home carefully.

Don’t be discouraged if none of those you visit the first day are exactly what you want. However, don’t be surprised if the first home you see is the perfect one for you!
